Welcome Home!
We've been waiting for you! It's true, because we believe that every person who comes into the circle of this special fellowship/was sent by God Himself. It's not by accident that we have the joy of meeting you. So, above all else we want to express Christ's love to you with genuine, heartfelt warmth. We're eager to know you, and we're excited to share with you the marvelous ways God is working in our church.
It won't take you long to discover that this is truly a family, rich in the relationships that matter most. Growing together, we worship, we serve, we laugh, we cry, we reach out to our world with life-transforming truth. We reach out to you, as well. Our doors are open. Our hearts are open, too. If you've been thinking, praying, searching and hoping for a place to belong, we say again -------Welcome Home!!!
Apostolic Deliverance Church of Christ #5 was established here in North Carolina a little over 30 years ago. The church was initially named Way To Christ Church under the leadership of Bishop Fred Earl. Elder Tobias came to pastor the church after the passing of Bishop Earl in 1983. Elder Tobias had been pastoring in Steubenville, Ohio after moving there from Washington, DC where he was born and raised. He was saved, filled with the Holy Ghost and started preaching initially at Bibleway Church on 13th and K St. SE. DC., where the pastor was the late Bishop Gary Richardson. He also met and married his wife of 41 years, Mother Diane Montgomery Tobias. Pastor Tobias, known as Brother George back then, sang and worked with the youth while at Bibleway. Soon the Lord sent him to Ohio to pastor then once again directed him to come to North Carolina so being obedient he packed his family and made the move not knowing what God had in store.
Years later, Elder Tobias changed the name of the church to Baptized Believers Church Bibleway World Wide Inc. He affiliated the church again with the organization he got saved in, Bibleway World Wide Inc founded by Bishop Smallwood E. Williams.
The church has always been located on Massey Street in Selma, just in two different locations and has been at the current 408 S. Massey St. address for over 25 years. The little building was a previous "juke joint" called the "Dew Drop Inn" and the pastor took up that name urging people in the community to "Do Drop In" and see what God has in store for them.
The church went through another transformation a few years ago when the pastor decided to join into fellowship with Bishop Carl Bellamy and we officially became Apostolic Deliverance Church of Christ #5 , with our headquarters in Kinston, NC.
We are a small church with a BIG heart for our community and bringing people to Christ. The unadulterated word of God is taught, understandings are open and lives are changed. God moves in the mist of his people and the power of the holy ghost reigns. Elder Tobias is standing on the word of God and preaching and teaching what we must do to make it to heaven. We welcome everyone to worship with us and experience God for themselves. The world is changing but the word of God stays the same. If you are looking for the true Word of God, looking to feel that void in your life, wanting to learn more about salvation, or just looking to stop in and worship with us feel free. We'll be looking for you...c'mon and "Do Drop In"
