Apostolic Deliverance Church Of Christ #5 |
To be a Christian or "Christ-Like" means we do what Jesus did, say what Jesus said, believe what Jesus said, and live like we have done all of these things. We want to be like Jesus as much as possible and the Apostle Paul describes what Jesus is like in Philippians 2:5-8; “Have this mind among yourselves, which is yours in Christ Jesus, who, though he was in the form of God, did not count equality with God a thing to be grasped, but emptied himself, by taking the form of a servant, being born in the likeness of men. And being found in human form, he humbled himself by becoming obedient to the point of death, even death on a cross.”
To Be Christ-Like....
To have the MIND of Christ is to look into the vast universe and whisper "Father."
To have the DISPOSITION of Christ is to look at another man and say "brother" regardless of his race, condition, or attitude.
To have the CHARACTERISTICS of Christ is to look at our disappointing society and be anxious for the coming of the Lord.
To GROW OLD in Christ is to look at death with peace, joy, calmness, just waiting for the day when you will see the Lord.
To LOVE like Christ is love God with all one's being and to love thy neighbors as one loves oneself, not only thy neighbor who is lovable and responsive but the unlovely and hostile ones and also those who are repulsive.
To PRAY as Christ did is to ask forgiveness for those who would destroy us if they could.
To have FAITH like Christ is to trust for security in the things of the Spirit, not in guns and war.
To Live like Christ is to strive for the objectives that He sought, the glory of God, and the welfare of all mankind.
Do some people wish to be called Christians because it symbolizes certain standards and ideals that appeal to them? Or are they Christians just because their ancestors were called Christians? To be called a Christian is the highest of honors and calls for nothing less than an all-out commitment to the highest and the best as revealed in Jesus Christ.
